Senior Software Developer

We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer with strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) expertise and a solid understanding of the logistics, warehousing, or supply chain industry. This is an opportunity to work on business-critical warehouse management solutions, integrations, automation initiatives, and operational systems that directly impact real-world outcomes every day.

You'll join a highly collaborative team and play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing systems that support some of New Zealand's leading brands.

This is a full-time, office-based position located at our new Head Office on Waterloo Road, Islington, Christchurch. The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with hours worked between 7:00am and 5:00pm. Start and finish times can be negotiated within these operating hours.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and developing robust, scalable software solutions using object-oriented principles.
  • Enhancing and supporting our Warehouse Management System (WMS) and related applications.
  • Working closely with warehouse operations teams to understand and solve real business challenges.
  • Designing system integrations between customers, transport providers, and internal platforms.
  • Contributing to system architecture, technical standards, and development best practices.
  • Writing clean, maintainable, high-quality code.
  • Troubleshooting complex issues and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Participating in testing, deployment, and production support activities.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in software development within a commercial environment.
  • Experience designing and developing enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and development best practices.
  • Experience integrating systems through APIs, web services, or middleware platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience within the logistics, warehousing, transport, or supply chain sectors.
  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Strong object-oriented development experience.
  • Understanding of warehouse operations including receiving, inventory control, replenishment, picking, packing, dispatch, and transport management.
  • Experience working with barcode scanning, RF technology, automation, or voice-picking solutions.
  • Exposure to high-volume transactional systems.
